History
Edugameshub is a sister site for the London Educational Games Meetup (aka #LEGup). Founded by Kirsten Campbell-Howes in April 2011, it quickly grew from a few people meeting above a pub to a huge community of educational games developers, teachers, investors, researchers, designers and students. In 2012, Martha Henson joined as a co-organizer and we began hosting much larger monthly events on subjects as diverse as board game design and investment for edtech startups. #LEGup members are mostly from the UK, but come from all over the world. Our members make educational games and educational software in countries as far apart as Cambodia, Australia, Finland and Brazil. You can read about the educational games makers in our community here. You can sign up for our events here.
In April 2013 #LEGup reached 620 members and we held our 2nd birthday party at the Mind Candy offices in London.
In June 2013, edugameshub.org was launched as a companion site to #LEGup, to provide news and resources to our ever-growing community. The logo and site were designed by Luis Olmos of 3oclockdesign.
In April 2014 #LEGup had its 3rd birthday party at Google Campus and the group passed the 1000 members mark.
